Welcome to the Helen L. Diller Vacation Home for Blind Children! The Home opened its doors in 1970 as a summer vacation retreat for blind and visually impaired children. We are located in a residential community, two blocks from the pristine beaches of the Atlantic Ocean, in Avalon, New Jersey. An attractive three story home comfortably houses twenty children ages 7-15 for week-long summer vacations. Campers enjoy a safe and caring environment with a staff to child ratio of one to five.

While attending camp, campers enjoy a variety of activities including amusement park rides at Morey’s Pier, a ride on the Cape May-Lewes Ferry, swimming at the beach, and visiting the boardwalk. All campers participate regardless of the extent of their vision loss, while establishing relationships with other children who may have a similar visual impairment.

The Home is made possible through donations from Tim Kerr Charities, Inc., the Avalon Lions Club, The Little Rock Foundation, The William G. and Helen C. Hoffman Foundation, contributions from area businesses, and donations from the public. The Home is a NJ Lions International District 16C supported project. Together, our benefactors make it possible for each camper to enjoy a summervacation at no cost to their families.
